Field Verification of Geological Data for the Basins of Rivers Administered

A geological Geographic Information System (GGIS) for the basins of rivers administered by the Water Resource Agency was established and periodically updated in the previous (2004-2014) projects.During 2004-2014, field verification was carried out in 24 river basins (including the Lanyang, Heping, Fongshan, Touchien, Jhonggan, Houlong, Da-an, Dajia, Wu, Jhuoshuei, Beigang, Puzi, Bazhang, Jishui,Zengwun, Yanshui, Erren, Agongdian, Gaoping, Donggang, Hualien, Xiuguluan, DanShui, and Huang River basins) to confirm and to establish the data sets of geo-hazard, geologic outcrop, aerial-photo interpretation, and geologic interpretation of these basins in the GGIS.

The objectives of the 2015 project covered (1) collection of new data, (2) field verification of the Beinan and Sizhong basins, (3) system maintenance and user-interface development, (4) implementation of Web-GIS, (5) training courses, and (6) GGIS-application demonstration for bedrock erosion assessment.

The total numbers of verification sites of the basin verified in Beinan and Sizhong River basins are 163, which include 39 rock outcrops and geologic structures, 112 sites of riverbed conditions, 12 of geo-hazards. The total numbers of geologic interpretation are 23. The verification results were compiled and built into the GGIS system.
