A study on risk assessment of landslide and sediment deposition in Shihmen watershed (1/3)

The study focuses on establishing the risk assessment model for landslide on the basis of infinite slope stability theory and Monte Carlo simulation. Its feature is based on mechanics and parameter uncertainty so the model can be applied to any studied region without any limitations and should be more common and objective than the empirical methods being used commonly for the past. This study will be carried out in three years. This report presents results of the first year and has already completed the collection and analysis of relevant research and the development of deterministic assessment model for landslide without risk effect. The model can be applied to landslide simulation with the effect of parameters including rainfall, topography, geology, and soil material. The preliminary results show that ponding phenomenon, rainfall patterns, rainfall, slope gradient would be the key factors causing landslide.
